Interfaith Group to Help Those in Need

Members of Temple Beth David have joined in the interfaith movement to feed the needy in Hernando County. "People Helping People" an organization with the explicit mission of being an "interfaith community providing for the needs of those in need" is in the process of forming.

For the time being the group plans to provide hot meals twice monthly- the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 4:00 PM -- starting June 28 Hernando County Senior Citizens Club on Rhanbuoy Road in Spring Hill.

The founder of the group said "We don't have an agenda other than feeding people and helping people,"

The plan is to coordinate efforts between organized groups, including various food drives, and welcome anyone regardless of their beliefs. "All three Abrahamic faiths — Christianity, Islam and Judaism — say you need to help your neighbor," said the organizers. "This is a fundamental core belief."

Colorado Day of Prayer Ruled Unconstitutional

From 2004 to 2009, Colorado’s sitting governors issued proclamations for a statewide Day of Prayer, to be held the first Thursday of May. But last week, a three-judge panel on the Colorado Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the proclamations invalid, holding that when a state [...]
