A Message from Rabbi Lenny

Rabbi Lenny Sarko

Welcome to Temple Beth David

I started with this synagogue in July of 2011.  In my short tenure, this has become a synagogue that cares, that reaches out to people, that has become a place of congregation for all sorts of Jewish programs and services.  It is the kind of place that welcomes a person or family regardless of background, regardless of denomination, regardless of personal choices or position in life.  You can make Beth David a home for yourself if you are a child, a teen, a young adult, newly married, or heading toward your golden years.

We have any number of the expected religious programs.  We have a Religious School, Friday Night Services, Saturday Morning Services, High Holy Day Services and services that celebrate every Jewish Holiday on the Calendar.  We support all our congregants in whatever life cycle event they may have – albeit a Brit MIlah, a Baby Naming, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah (including for adults), Weddings, Funerals and Unveilings.

We have a myriad of Educational programs for children and adults.  Currently we are running a Talmud Class and an Adult Hebrew Class.  There are seminars, Jewish History Classes and Book Clubs.  Our services and my approach to the rabbinate is one of education.  In this vein we have learning opportunities even within services.

We have social activities.  Times when we just get together to have fun.  In the past we have gone to the races, have gone to plays together, had movie nights, bar-b-cues and a host of other activities.  We at Beth David feel it is important to just get together socially as a way of building community.

And speaking of building community, we have any number of ways to get involved in Tikkun Olam projects (the mitzvah of saving the world).  From our connections to community ventures, to the number of committees that exist in our congregation from Sisterhood and Brotherhood, to the Community Relations Committee and others, a congregant has the opportunity to get involved in something they enjoy and want to do, as well as join others in our synagogue that wish to do the same.

Temple Beth David has an open door policy, and I as a Rabbi have the same.  You have the ability to come and talk with me at any time and let me help you in any religious issue you may have.  If you are in the Spring Hill area and are looking for a Jewish home, I think you would find a very nice one here with us at Temple Beth David.  Please give me a call to discuss our synagogue or join us for any of our programs or services to see what we have to offer.

Shalom B’shalom,

Rabbi Lenny Sarko
